Organic Baking

There’s nothing like baking your own bread, or making a cake for your friends and family, especially if you can use organic ingredients.  No chemicals, no pesticides, no nasties - that’s what we like at Field Fayre.  


We have all manner of organic flour (from Bacheldre, Shipton Mill, Doves, Infinity, Marriages to name but a few), organic ingredients (organic oat bran, flakes, dried fruit and nuts), plus all the baking sundries you need (eg organic vanilla extract from Steenbergs), even 100% unbleached paper products for baking from If You Care.


Our ‘egg of choice’ is directly from local farm Middle Crwys – delicious organic eggs from a mixed flock – all Soil Association accredited.  


Did you know that organic eggs are more free-range than ‘free-range’?   Hens are ‘followers’ by nature, so when one hen wants to leave the coop the others all want to do the same.  If there are only a few pop holes they get stressed when they can’t all get out at the same time.  Organic standards demand a higher number of ‘pop holes’ so the hens do not become stressed.  Less stressed hens means for a better egg in our view.
